【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesapracticalmeansofassessingglasspipestrengthundershort-duration,thermally-imposedtensilestresses.Inadditiontoaprincipalroleplayedbythelinearcoefficientofthermalexpansion,glasssurfacedefectscanalsobemajorfactorsinreducingdownshockperformance.1.1Sincethermalshockresistanceissocloselyrelatedtothelinearcoefficientofexpansion,thismethodforthedeterminationofthethermalshockresistanceofglassprocesspipeisprimarilyintendedtosupplementtestresultsonthelinearcoefficientofexpansion,TestMethodE228.Thisthermalshocktestwillnotordinarilybeperformedexceptinthosecaseswherethethermalshockresistancemaybequestioned.1.2Thismethodcoversonlytwooffourthermalshockpossibleapproaches,namelyindependentdownshockofoutsideandinsidepipesurfaces.Downshockismoreseveresinceahighertensilestressisproducedand,hence,morelikelytoproducefailure.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
