【摘要】:ThisBritishStandardestablishesasystemofcategoriesforallprintproductionanddistinguishesprintsaccordingtotheextenttowhichtheartistnamedasinventorwasactuallyinvolvedinmakingtheprint.TheStandardprovidesameansofdescribingprintswithouttheuseofsuchtermsas'originalprints',or'fineartprints'.Throughtheyears,theseimpreciseconceptshavebeenfrequentlymisunderstood.Thisstandardallowsnon-judgementaldistinctiontobemadebetweenthoseprintsinwhichtheartistwasinvolvedinallthecreativeprocesses,andthosewhereapre-existingimagewasmultipliedwithorwithouttheartist'sparticipation.Thesystemofcategoriesshouldremainvalidforwhateverhybridandunusualkindofprintsmaybeproducedbythemostunorthodoxartistsusingthelatesttechnologies.Forexample,groupAimpliesatotalandsingularinvolvementonthepartoftheartist;attheotherendofthescalegroupFimpliesnoinvolvementatall,eitherpracticalorsympathetic.NOTE.Inthecaseofprintsmadepriortothenineteenthcentury,differentattitudesexistedtowardstheartistasinventoroftheimageandthecollaborator(s)makingtheprintingmatrix.
