【摘要】:Thetendencyofoilstofoamathightemperaturecanbeaseriousprobleminsystemssuchashigh-speedgearing,highvolumepumping,andsplashlubrication.Foamingcancauseinadequatelubrication,cavitation,andlossoflubricantduetooverflow,andtheseeventscanleadtomechanicalfailure.Correlationbetweentheamountoffoamcreatedorthetimeforfoamtocollapse,orboth,andactuallubricationfailurehasnotbeenestablished.Suchrelationsshouldbeempiricallydeterminedforfoamsensitiveapplications.1.1Thistestmethoddescribestheprocedurefordeterminingthefoamingcharacteristicsoflubricatingoils(specificallytransmissionfluidandmotoroil)at150176;C.1.2Foamingcharacteristicsoflubricatingoilsattemperaturesupto93.5176;CaredeterminedbyTestMethodD892orIP146.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
